The Corpse in the Waxworks

There’s no denying the disquiet in the Musée Augustin – even the proprietor is perturbed by the apparent vitality of his waxworks. Only the bravest pay a visit, among them Inspector Bencolin, who is investigating the death of woman found floating in the Seine – and last seen alive entering the waxworks museum. Accompanying Bencolin are the dead woman’s fiancé, Captain Chaumont, and the young American Jeff Marle. When their visit leads to the discovery of a second corpse, the cynics among them are forced to consider the unthinkable.
